Abstract Title:
"Provisional Operation and Maintenance of the CTBT IMS Infrasound Network" |
Abstract:
The provisional operation and maintenance of IMS infrasound stations after installation and subsequent certification has the objective to prepare the infrasound network for entry into force of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT). The goal is to maintain and fine tune the technical capabilities of the network, to repair faulty equipment, and to ensure that stations continue to meet the minimum specifications through evaluation of data quality and station recalibration. Due to the globally dispersed nature of the network, this program constitutes a significant undertaking, which requires careful consideration of logistics and its financial implications. Currently, 13 of the 60 IMS infrasound stations are certified and provisionally operated and maintained in post-certification mode. Another 10 stations are sending data to Vienna in post-installation Testing & Evaluation mode. The presentation focuses on the different phases of IMS post-installation activities, including the logistical challenges to be tackled to ensure a cost-efficient management of the network. Specific topics include Testing and Evaluation and Certification of infrasound stations, as well as Configuration Management and Network Sustainment. |
