Abstract Title:

"Establishment of the CTBT IMS Infrasound Network – A Status Report"
Abstract:

Steady progress has been made on the establishment of the IMS-infrasound monitoring stations. To date 86% of the site surveys for the stations in this network have been completed, about 40% of the stations are transmitting continuous data to Vienna, and 22% of the network has been certified.

The wide geographical distribution of stations in operation may be considered a preliminary image of the future IMS-infrasound global network. Taking into account that there are 12 other stations under construction, it is expected that by the end of next year, about 60% of the network should be completed.

This presentation will be mainly concerned with an overview of progress to date on the establishment of the global infrasound network and also present the challenges and difficulties encountered in this program.
