Abstract Title:

"IMS station IS11, Cape Verde Islands"
Abstract:

It is intended to establish the IMS infrasound station IS11 at the Island of Maio, Republic of Cape Verde, archipelago situated at the North Atlantic about 500 Km from the African Continent coast. The station has been designated as a facility of the infrasound network of the CTBTO. With the installation of this new infrasound array it will be allowed the observation of infrasound waves radiated from the seismic activities of the Volcano of the Island of Fogo where a geophysical network has been installed after the 1995 eruption and operated from 1998 to date. A seismic station has been also installed at the Island of Santiago by the Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics of the University of California as part of the Global Seismographic Network.

The aim of this paper is to present briefly to the scientific community the stations already operating, the problems experienced at their operation, and call for suggestions for the best way for their integrated management.
