Abstract Title:
"Recent developments on infrasound data processing at the French NDC" |
Abstract:
For each IMS-type infrasound station received at the French NDC, continuous automatic processing is being performed in order to detect and characterize all coherent signals detected in the [0.02-4] Hz band. Examples of coherent infrasonic waves generated by strong earthquakes occurring within region of high mountains will be presented. In parallel, the infrasonic background noise is measured at each array element. When correlated to local variations of wind speed, updated wind-noise reference curves allow a geophysical monitoring of both equipment and processing results. Wind-noise models derived for different frequency bands are compared for various places and time periods. Accounting for wind-noise fluctuations, thresholds of detection are then evaluated. Recent developments concerning propagation modeling and source location procedure using multiple arrays will also be presented. Because each station may produce large number of detections, fortuitous phases association are considered with care. More detailed phase characterization associated with advanced classifier methods are investigated in order to improve the reliability of the location results.
