Abstract Title:

"ON USING OF NORMAL MODE CODE TO FORECAST INFRASONIC SIGNALS AT THE LONG DISTANCES FROM SURFACE EXPLOSIONS"
Abstract:

The results of modeling of long-range infrasound propagation in the atmosphere by using of normal mode code are presented. High frequency approximation of normal mode code are used. The effects of fine-layered structure of the middle atmosphere on amplitude and phase characteristics of the infrasonic signals from explosions are studied. The piece-linear approximation of the real vertical profile of acoustic refractive index in the middle atmosphere (up to 80 km) are used. The relation to additional shift of the phase of the infrasonic signal caused by the effects of fine-layered structure of the atmosphere are obtained. It was obtained that the profile of acoustic pulse having usual form of U-wave (when effects of fine-layered structure of the atmosphere are absent) transforms to complex profile of U-wave having additional extrema. The theoretical results are confirmed by experimental data.

Keywords:normal mode code, infrasound
